Sike! John Lewis’ camp is now saying that he didn’t change his pledge from Clinton to Obama. Call this one a back flip.
From the AJC:
A story in Friday’s New York Times that said U.S. Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) was going to back Barack Obama for president is inaccurate, a spokeswoman for the former civil rights leader told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution this morning.
Lewis press secretary Brenda Jones did not elaborate and has not yet responded to a request for clarification.
In light of this recent news, here’s a new question to answer about Lewis’ move.
What really happened with Lewis?
A. Bill got to him: He either called in a favor or offered Lewis something.
B. The Times either got the story wrong or pulled a Scott Templeton maneuver.
C. He got cold feet–he plain ol’ punked out.
D. He’s trying to hold out to see who will win TX and OH.
E. C and D
F. None of the above: Explain________

I am torn between A, C and E. Let’s put it this way:
He punked-out because that’s the ‘nature’ of his character; he became uneasy at the thought of Obama losing both Texas and Ohio and began to punk-out; and Bill called him. Bill, knowing Lewis’s punkish and opportunistic nature, spoke words that made his bald head sweat.
So, I choose ‘C’ because it’s more the ‘punk’ in him that drives him to think and react to everything.
What do you think Professor? Did I pass?

BTW, take a look at this. Clearly, only a shivering punk would flake out like this. He has no moral compass and cannot be trusted.

So it’s looking like he will be voting for him in the end but not endorsing him per se. Hmmm….
Regarding the multiple choice… You definitely pass. Although it is a bit of a trick question since we will only be able to really tell after all of this plays out.
